The last few weeks have been very challenging for the
membership in dealing with the increase in code white situations. Staff are
expressing feelings of anxiety, overwhelmed with stress and fatigue. The members
have expressed many safety concerns. Your Local Executive have brought forward
your concerns to the Employer. We
have had 2 meetings with the Employer including the Senior Management Team who actively listened and
acknowledged the concerns.
The Employer responded positively by committing to
review the safety situations as well as the concerns brought forward by various units.
We have been assured steps will be taken to address the issues and improve safety in the workplace.
We encourage the membership to continue to raise
safety concerns and have an open discussion with your manager. Communication is
the key in promoting a safe and healthy environment. We also encourage the
membership to utilize all the available resources e.g. EAP as needed.
