Change
in Payroll The Employer met with your Local Executive on
November 26, 2014 to announce they are going to make a change in payroll as
mentioned in their memo which was sent out to all staff shortly after the
meeting. Your Local Executives identified various issues with the original plan
which may cause disadvantages/ undue hardship to the membership and/or
violations of the Collective Agreement by this unilateral decision. We took
these concerns together with the issues raised by the membership back to the
Employer and have engaged in many discussions with the Employer since then. The
imposed changes to the upcoming schedule were made after the scheduling
deadline, we asked the Employer to resume the responsibilities to backfill those
shifts which our members are unable to work and would otherwise not be scheduled
to work based on their master schedule; as the Employer is going to make
on-going changes to the master schedules, we asked the Employer to post these
changes , so the membership will at least be informed of what the change might
be in order to plan ahead and maintain a work life balance. Unfortunately, many
of these issues remain outstanding to date. These include but not limited to
scheduling violations and undue hardship, vacation accrual, seniority, overtime
entitlement and taxation. If you
have any issues or concerns that need to be addressed regarding these changes,
please contact the Union office to discuss your options as soon as possible.
