Your Local strongly encourages all members to take Union representation during meetings with the Employer. Scenarios requiring a representative include:
- Return to Work/ Work Accommodation (injury/illness/WSIB)
- Attendance Support/ Management
- Investigations/Fact finding
- Disciplinary Action
- Grievance process
- Anything pertaining to Article 16
And please note that if you are called in as a Witness for any fact finding investigations, should that matter go to Arbitration at a later date, your information will be disclosed if necessary including your name.
The Employer has an obligation to inform you of your right to Union representation and should provide reasonable notice as to time and place of the meeting. Should you choose to decline Union representation a waiver is available from the Union Office, your Union Steward or the Employer should also provide you with this.
