Ontario Shores Pleads Guilty to Charge

Public Case #2860 999 12 1694 01/02/03 was heard at Whitby Provincial Court on September 5, 2012.  This case involved eight counts against three defendants--Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences, Alex Khan, and Mary Solomon.

The Crown counsel informed the court that there was a guilty plea to Count Two with an agreed statement of facts, a joint submission as to penalty in the amount of $30,000, and that the Crown would be withdrawing the remaining charges.  All facts were adopted by the Court and the Defendants.

The case involved an investigation by Marc Dugas of the Ministry of Labour who determined that Ontario Shores failed to comply with section 8 of Ontario Regulation 67/93, contrary to section 25 (1) of the Act.  These facts were relied on in support of the conviction.

Ontario Shores was fined $30,000 plus a 25% victim fine surcharge.  Counts one, and counts three to six against Ontario Shores, count seven against Alex Khan, and count eight against Mary Solomon were withdrawn.  Ontario Shores agreed to pay within sixty days.
